Impact of Mohammed Shami’s Injury on Indian Cricket Team in Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Ex-Australian cricket captain Tim Paine recently discussed the significant impact that Mohammed Shami’s injury will have on the Indian cricket team in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Speaking on The Grade Cricketer podcast, Paine pointed out that Shami’s ankle injury, which he sustained after the ODI World Cup in 2023, could place additional pressure on fellow bowler Jasprit Bumrah. He emphasized that if Bumrah were to sustain an injury as well, it could severely affect the team’s performance.

The much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a test series between India and Australia, is scheduled to commence on November 22, 2024. The opening match will take place in Perth, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting cricketing event. Paine’s comments underline the challenges that the Indian team might face without one of their key bowlers, Mohammed Shami, in the lineup.
