PT Usha, who serves as the president of the Indian Olympic Association, recently voiced her concerns regarding the omission of certain sports from the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Notably, popular sports such as wrestling, hockey, and badminton will not be featured in the upcoming games. While Usha understands the rationale behind this decision, which includes cost reduction, minimizing environmental impacts, and enhancing social benefits, she expressed her disappointment.
She believes that these measures are intended to make it feasible for more countries to host the Games in the future. However, Usha reassured that this decision does not create a permanent exclusion of these sports. She emphasized that all sports hold significant value and could potentially be included in future editions of the Commonwealth Games.
