The HIL 2024-25 Players’ Auction

The Hockey India League (HIL) has announced that the players’ auction for the HIL 2024-25 will be held from 13th to 15th October in New Delhi. This auction will see each franchise build a 24-player squad, consisting of at least 16 Indian players (with a mandatory inclusion of 4 junior players) and 8 international stars.

The HIL 2024-25 will feature 8 men’s teams and 6 women’s teams, marking the first time a standalone women’s league will run concurrently with the men’s competition. This is a significant step forward for women’s hockey in India, as it provides a platform for female players to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level.

The HIL has been a major contributor to the growth of hockey in India since its inception in 2013. The league has provided a platform for young Indian players to play alongside and against some of the best players in the world. It has also helped to raise the profile of hockey in India and has attracted a new generation of fans to the sport.

The HIL has also been instrumental in the development of Indian coaches and support staff. Many of the coaches and support staff who have worked in the league have gone on to work with the Indian national teams and have played a key role in their success.

The HIL has also been a major source of revenue for Indian hockey. The league has attracted major sponsors and has helped to raise the profile of the sport in the country. The HIL has also provided a platform for Indian players to earn a living from the sport, which was not possible before the league was established.

The HIL 2024-25 is set to be another exciting season for hockey fans in India. With the inclusion of a standalone women’s league, the league is set to attract even more fans and provide a platform for female players to showcase their skills. The players’ auction is a key event in the lead up to the season and will determine the makeup of each franchise’s squad. Hockey fans will be eagerly anticipating the start of the season and the chance to see their favourite players in action.
