India’s Bowling Coach Morne Morkel Unhappy with Hardik Pandya’s Bowling in Nets

According to reports, India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel was not pleased with Hardik Pandya’s bowling during the nets session before the Bangladesh T20Is. Morkel expressed his dissatisfaction with Pandya’s approach with the ball, and the two had a lengthy discussion about the necessary corrections.

The nets session took place in Gwalior, where Morkel focused on Pandya’s run-up, particularly when the all-rounder was shadow-practicing his bowling action.

Hardik Pandya is a crucial player for the Indian cricket team, known for his explosive batting and useful medium-pace bowling. However, his bowling form has been a concern for the team management in recent times.

During the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL), Pandya bowled only four overs in the entire tournament, raising questions about his fitness and form. He was also not included in the Indian squad for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand and the subsequent five-match Test series against England.

Therefore, the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh is an opportunity for Pandya to prove his worth as a bowler and cement his place in the Indian team. However, Morkel’s feedback suggests that Pandya has some work to do before he can be relied upon as a regular bowling option.

It remains to be seen how Pandya responds to Morkel’s advice and whether he can make the necessary adjustments to his bowling action. The first T20I between India and Bangladesh is scheduled to take place on November 3, 2021, in Delhi.
