Vinesh Phogat: A Fighter with a Humble Heart
As a wrestling enthusiast, I have always admired Vinesh Phogat for her incredible fighting spirit and her ability to overcome obstacles. But what truly sets her apart from other athletes is her humble heart and lack of entitlement despite her success.
I had the privilege of meeting Vinesh and her fellow wrestler Anshu Malik at a tournament a few years ago. They were both looking for tickets to watch a match, and I happened to have a spare pair. I was struck by how grateful they were for the tickets, despite being some of the most successful wrestlers in the country.
During the match, I watched as Vinesh cheered on her friend Nikhat Zareen during her gold medal bout. Despite not being in the ring herself, Vinesh was fully invested in her friend’s success and celebrated with her when she won.
Recently, Vinesh has faced some setbacks in her career, including a disappointing performance at the Tokyo Olympics. But I have no doubt that she will come back stronger than ever. Her resilience and determination are truly inspiring, and I believe that she will continue to be a role model for young athletes everywhere.
Watching Vinesh compete is always a thrill, but it is her humility and kindness that truly make her a champion in my eyes. She is a reminder that success is not just about winning, but about how we treat others along the way.
