Ricky Ponting Predicts Australia to Win Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1 Against India

Ricky Ponting, the former Australian captain, has predicted that Australia will win the upcoming five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India 3-1. The series is scheduled to take place in November-December, and Ponting believes that Australia has a “point to prove” after two straight Test series defeats at home against India.

Ponting, who is currently the head coach of Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, has closely followed the performances of both teams in recent times. He believes that Australia’s recent form in Test cricket has been impressive, and they have a good chance of winning the series against India.

“I think Australia will win the series 3-1. They have a point to prove after losing the last two series against India at home. They have a good bowling attack, and their batting has been consistent in recent times. I think they will be too strong for India,” Ponting said in an interview.

India, on the other hand, will be without their regular skipper Virat Kohli for the last three Tests of the series as he will be on paternity leave. This will be a big blow for India, as Kohli is one of the best batsmen in the world and has a great record against Australia.

However, Ponting believes that India has a good chance of winning the series if they can get their team combination right. He has backed left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed to be a part of India’s touring party, as he believes that Ahmed has the ability to trouble the Australian batsmen with his swing bowling.

“India has a good team, but they need to get their combination right. They will miss Kohli, but they have some good players who can step up. I think Khaleel Ahmed should be in the touring party, as he has the ability to swing the ball and trouble the Australian batsmen,” Ponting added.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is one of the most prestigious Test series in world cricket, and both teams will be eager to win it. Australia will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing series loss against India at home in 2018-19, while India will be hoping to continue their dominance over Australia in Test cricket.

The series promises to be an exciting one, and cricket fans around the world will be eagerly waiting for it to begin.
