The First Test Match between West Indies and South Africa Ends in a Draw

The first Test match between West Indies and South Africa ended in a draw due to rain interruptions. The match was held at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in St. Lucia, and it was a closely contested battle between the two teams.

West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. They got off to a good start with Kraigg Brathwaite and Shai Hope putting up a solid partnership. However, South Africa fought back with some excellent bowling, and West Indies were eventually bowled out for 97 runs.

In response, South Africa got off to a shaky start, losing their first three wickets for just 37 runs. However, Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen steadied the ship with a partnership of 79 runs. South Africa eventually declared their innings at 322 for 5, with Markram scoring a brilliant century.

West Indies were set a target of 324 runs to win the match, but rain interruptions meant that they had to settle for a draw. Alick Athanaze played a key role in ensuring the draw for West Indies with his determined 92 runs.
